A Message From Us at Singapore International Water Week

Dear friends and colleagues,

As we wind down another eventful year in 2023, we wish to thank you for your valued support and partnership with us.

Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) Spotlight 2023

SIWW Spotlight 2023

In June, we brought together 350 global water utility and industry leaders for SIWW Spotlight 2023, a high-level Summit intended to galvanise action amongst utilities by sharing knowledge, best practices and solutions in the areas of climate resilience and digitalisation. We organised an inaugural Utilities CEO Roundtable which was attended by 56 utilities from 27 countries, including 40 utility CEOs. At the plenaries, we showcased global case studies of successful collaboration between the public and private sector that delivered positive outcomes to the communities that they serve. Like many who attended the event, we were energised by the passion and conviction of the global water leaders who wanted to make a difference to the world.

Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) 2024

SIWW Spotlight 2023

Next year, in 2024, we aim to build on this momentum to deliver an even better and more impactful Singapore International Water Week. To be held from 18 to 22 June 2024, SIWW2024 will focus on three major themes:

  • Climate Mitigation & Water Sustainability, including net zero & decarbonisation, nexus & circularity, advanced treatment technologies, used water management & reuse, low-energy desalination, water quality & one health, climate financing.

  • Digitalisation, including smart networks and systems, sensors, digital twins, AI & machine learning, autonomous robots.

  • Climate Adaptation, including coastal protection & flood resilience, nature-based solutions, blue-green infrastructure, adaptive multi-functional land use, adaptation financing.

At SIWW2024, we will continue to create opportunities to foster knowledge exchange, collaboration and partnerships through our signature programme pillars:

  • A by-invitation Utility Innovation Roundtable for utility leaders to share innovation efforts undertaken, identify technology and innovation gaps, and build partnerships with other utilities. A Water Leaders Innovation Summit for industry leaders to showcase efforts on how they partner with utilities to bridge the innovation and technology gap.

  • The SIWW Water Convention received close to 500 abstracts during the recent Call for Papers. Co-organised with the International Water Association, the Water Convention Programme Committee met recently in Singapore to finalise the technical programme. Delegates to the Water Convention at SIWW2024 can expect a high-quality programme including opening plenary, 44 oral sessions, 1 poster session and 6 hot issues workshops. Notification to authors on the abstract review will be released shortly, so do keep a look out for it.

  • TechXchange will return with a different format, designed to connect start-ups and innovators with utility and industry end-users to accelerate the adoption and commercialisation of new technologies.

  • The Industrial Water Solutions Forum will shine the spotlight on the industrial water sector, featuring presentations, workshops and panel sessions with industrial water users (by sector) focused on technology and innovation to reduce industrial water footprint.

  • The Young Water Leaders Summit, a leadership programme for next-generation utility leaders, will offer valuable learning, networking and exposure opportunities during the event.

  • The Water Expo, organised by Messe Munich, in cooperation with IFAT, offers a marketplace for the latest state-of-the-art water solutions and technologies.

[NEW] Coastal Protection and Flood Resilience

SIWW Spotlight 2023

Complex climate shifts are having profound impacts on cities, with more frequent and intense flooding and storm surges, increasing episodes of droughts, and threats of sea-level rise to coastline developments.

Against this backdrop, we are introducing a new pillar at SIWW2024 on coastal protection and flood resilience designed to bring city leaders, coastal and flood industry experts and practitioners together to share best practices, co-create innovation flood management and coastal protection solutions, and foster new partnerships to tackle these emerging climate challenges.

Attendees can expect to attend the following programmes:

  • A by-invitation Cities Roundtable on Coastal Protection and Flood Management for city leaders to exchange experiences in policy intervention, community engagement, and innovative solutions to build climate-resilient cities.

  • A Cities Coastal and Flood Leaders Forum for industry to showcase successful coastal and flood management projects implemented in cities worldwide.

  • Technical sessions at the Water Convention featuring global applied case studies and best practices.

  • Coastal protection and flood management technologies, products and services presented at the Water Expo.
